We're spending more time cooped up indoors and I think you'll agree that Netflix, Prime, iPlayer and All4 have been the saving grace. If you're looking for some TV inspo to help fill the cold, rainy, maybe even snowy February evenings, then look no further...we have 10 brilliant recommendations for you.

  1. Ange - This Is Us - Prime I was gripped from the very first episode and now, like a good book, I can't put it down. The series follows the lives and families of two parents and their three children, in several different time frames. I have laughed, cried and binge watched! There are 5 series to keep you going for a while. One not to be missed.
  2. Tyler - River Monsters - Netflix River Monsters is about a professional angler, Jeremy Wade investigating a series of aquatic murders of people from across the globe. He tries to uncover the culprit. I loved the spin on the stereotypical murder investigator show by making the stories about crimes not committed by people. I definitely recommend it for its original and unpredictable cast of culprits.
  3. Cody - Cobra Kai  - Netflix Cobra Kai is a Karate Kid spin-off. When Johnny rescues a bullied kid, he is inspired to restart the notorious Cobra Kai dojo. I like this show because it really shows the importance of family and that with the right support you can get through anything.
  4. Miran - The Crown - Netflix The Crown is based on actual real events that focuses on the early reign of Queen Elizabeth II and the Royal family. Personally I love this show because I love any historical timelines discussing true events based on history. I was really fascinated by the culture, the bloodline and the horrifying events that occurred. I find the Queen a remarkable and kind inspiration of Britain because during the Aberfan Disaster on October 29th 1966, eight days after the disaster, she was devastated and upset by this event but inspired her people to remember those who lost their lives which brought many tears in her eyes in public. She has served her country without failing her people but truly been positive ambassador and role model in the UK. Thank you for reading, this show is really inspirational to the Royal family and it feels memorable from what the Queen has gained and succeeded throughout her early reign and absolutely enjoyable. I highly recommend watching this show.

  5. Dan  - Gotham - Netflix I highly recommend Gotham. Gotham is a spin off from the hit movie Batman. The time in Gotham is set before Bruce Wayne began his adventure as the notorious Batman we know today, but surprisingly the main character is not Bruce Wayne but James Gordon. The show is very gruesome and rated a 14+. It's been given a 7.8/10 on IMDb. There are 82 episodes of Gotham with each of them roughly lasting 40 minutes each episode. I highly recommend this show as it is great and very enjoyable. If you like Batman or the DC Universe, you will love this show. It's full of villains as well as heroes.
  6. Michael  - Blue Exorcist - Netflix Blue Exorcist is anime about Demons and Satan. The main character is called Rin Okumura and he is the son of Satan. Rin also has a brother called Yukio Okumura and they defeat Demons also want to defeat Satan from release Demons in the world. Blue Exorcist has great action scenes and can be very funny at times, so I recommend you too watch this.
  7. Lewis - After Life - Netflix It’s a British series written, produced, directed by  and starring Ricky Gervais.  It’s a black comedy series about Tony, who has recently lost his wife to cancer. He works as a journalist for a local tabloid newspaper.  He writes some strange stories about the people he meets.  Every day he goes to visit his father in a care home. He feels that everything he cares about is gone.  He’s feeling extremely depressed and instead of committing suicide, he decides to be mean to everyone, except for his dog Brandy, which keeps giving him a reason to live.  His brother-in-law, Matt, who is also his boss at the newspaper, tries to make him feel a bit happier, but his ideas don’t always work out well. A 3rd series is on its way.
  8. Gruff - The Mallorca Files - BBC iplayer The Mallorca Files had its original release in 2019. It’s set in Mallorca (obviously)it stars Elen Rhys as Miranda Blakeand Julian Looman as Max Winter. It could be described as a Spanish version of Death in Paradise. It’s full of good humour and hard to stop watching, it will have you grasped easily. It could have you watching episode after episode like a real television geek.
  9. Jo - Spiral - BBC iplayer This multi award winning drama, produced by Canal+ was first shown in the UK in 2006 with the final series shown in 2020.  This gripping French police drama delves into the dark underworld of criminal activity in Paris.  There is no holding back on the corruption within the police force either.  What becomes most compelling about this drama over the course of the series, is the development of the main characters Laure, Gilou and Tintin.  The on-off relationship between Laure and Gilou often causes tensions within the close friendship triangle yet we also witness the extremes to which each of them are willing to go to protect each other.  We also have an insight into the French legal system, so different to our own, and learn more about the lives of the Judges and Lawyers within the drama throughout the series.  I highly recommend it but with caution for those that may have a sensitive nature, as some of the crimes we follow can be extremely horrific and upsetting.
  10. Abi - Fate: The Winx Saga - Netflix  Fate: The Winx Saga is a live adaptation of the teen drama series, based on the Nickelodeon animated series, Winx Club. When I started watching Fate: The Winx Saga I was on the edge of my seat and my favourite characters are Bloom and Musa.

Here are some additional gems to keep you busy;
The Serpant - BBC iplayer
The Pembrokeshire Murders - ITV Hub
